In Recognition of Past President Rolly Dickins

presentation to Orange Sky Laundry  Our Club has been looking for an appropriate way to recognise Past President Rolly Dickins, and his wishes; that the Elizabeth community homeless should be supported in some way.

To that end, his request for contributions instead of flowers at his funeral, started a fund of which his widow, Honorary member Bessie Dickins, presented to Orange Sky Laundry at our meeting 2481.

Orange Sky Laundry is Australia’s first mobile laundry service for the homeless. A world first, started in Brisbane by two 20 year men, is a custom fitted van which has been servicing parks and drop in centres across Australia. Each van contains two industrial washers and dryers. Orange Sky now has 9 services across Australia in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney, Sunshine Coast, Canberra, Perth, Adelaide, SE Melbourne.

With around 180+ people sleeping rough in Adelaide every night and over 6000 people classed as homeless in SA, Orange Sky Laundry is proud to take its seventh service into this community.

With thanks to The Good Guys, RACV Salary Solutions and the Tingari-Silverton Foundation along with the ongoing support from Richard Jay, Symbio, LG Electronics and the Orange Sky Community, they have been able to provide this brand new service.
A unit visits Elizabeth every Friday morning at Anglicare.
